Mike Ervin, journalist, writer and playwright, and Anna Stonum, poet, and visual artist, are shown in a double portrait. Ervin’s work appears in Staring Back: The Disability Experience From The Inside Out and Beyond Victims and Villains: Contemporary Plays by Disabled Playwrights. Stonum was a visual artist and graphic designer who created the famous “Adapt or Perish” satire of the Ascent of Man silhouette. Ervin and Stonum, dedicated disability rights activists, had been married for a decade before Anna’s sudden death in February 1999.
